The new album from Israel Nash is due for release on March 12^th, 2021. Our favourite track, ‘Closer’, is a sweet ballad that sits amongst a genre-bending rock n roll release. It opens with soft acoustic guitars and layers countrified pedal steel guitars and melancholy harmonica lines amongst the building texture. It’s a tender track that touches on his personal connections to home, drifting away from many of the political messages that fill the rest of the album. “Topaz is technically the first album that I’ve worked on on my own,” Nash says. “This record evolved over a year, in between tours, when I would just be by myself.” Be sure to check it out. -Dan Peeke
